Buy a portable water filter
Water filtration occurs when it is passed through a porous medium (a filter cartridge) to remove suspended matters or particles. Particles to be removed in your drinking water may include sediments, silt, and microorganisms including bacteria, and viruses. Sediment cartridge filters are great for removing dust, rust, dirt and other suspended particles in your water. Carbon filters are used to remove unpleasant taste and odor in water.
Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems use a membrane technology that will allow contaminated water to pass through while retaining the contaminants. While RO systems can take out all sediments and they will also remove minerals
from the water; RO tends to use a lot of water.
Whichever filter types you decided to buy, they may become clogged over time and a replacement filter will be needed. This also is an essential part of using water filters. Filters will retain the contaminants they have removed. So, by not changing your filters as recommended by the manufacture can result in your filtered water becoming contaminated than the raw water.
What happen if the filter pores are filled to capacity and is now holding pathogenic bacteria and viruses it has removed from the water supply? Most of the microorganisms on the RO surface will eventually flush into your
drinking water. Imagine an ocean of bacteria entering your water system in a great flood and you get the picture.
To protect you from this ever happening to your drinking water, you install a disinfection system to complete your water filtration mechanisms. This will ensure that all water passing into your drinking water system is absolutely safe to use and free of bacterial and viral pathogens.
But the most important precaution is to buy a replacement cartridge water filter to ensure consistent refreshing and healthy water that is free of potential re-contamination.
Why should you be spending money on bottled water? Check out different online retailers for the best water filter that will meet your need. In fact, buying a water filter will not only save you money, it will help the environment. Plastic bottles takes a long time to decay. Do a quick web search for affordable portable water filter if you desire to carry water to work, school, camps, or if you are traveling to foreign countries.

How Water Filters Work
So how do you get pure drinking water? Most people get a water filtration system. However, no one unit can remove all the impurities in our drinking water. And there are many types to choose from. If you have a better understanding of how water filters work, then you’ll be able to get the right one to fit your lifestyle.
Water filters were invented for good taste – and safety
Water filtration systems have been sought since as early as 4000 B.C. to clear the visible cloudiness in drinking water. We humans have a penchant for purity, don’t we? Especially for something we’re putting inside our bodies! That desire for purity has grown in the last few decades, and has been joined by a desire, also, for safety.
We not only want the water that we drink to be pure, with good taste and odor, we also want to know that we have safe drinking water; that is, free of impurities like bacteria, poisonous chemicals and minerals. And as science discovers more of these in our water, we need to find systems that’ll filter them out. These impurities can be very harmful, causing diseases and malfunctions in our bodies. And since health is such an emphatic issue these days, we need to be making wise decisions about what we eat and drink.
These were the thoughts of Heinz Hankammer and his family as they produced a water filter that would provide, in a simple format, clear water – free from impurities. Heinz named his company after his daughter, Brita, which you’ll probably recognize as the leading manufacturer of freestanding household water filters today. Brita led the way in producing the simplest and most cost-effective way of improving water quality.
Water purification and filtration can be quite technical
We’re going to give you here, a simple explanation of how water filters work. We’ll look at the different types available, while trying to stay away from the technical terms so you’ll get a clear understanding. Remember, if you understand something, you’re far more likely to remember it.
Most filters today are charcoal, or activated charcoal. Charcoal, which is mostly carbon, is the residue of partial burning or destructive distillation of organic material. When special heating or chemical processing is added to charcoal, it becomes much more absorptive, and is then referred to as “activated charcoal”. So a charcoal filter works on the principle of absorption. Large volumes of gases, including most poisonous ones, stick to the charcoal, which is quite porous. (That’s why it’s used in gas masks.) Because it has such a large porous surface area, it absorbs a lot of impurities. Charcoal filters are used in icemaker filters, under-counter filters, countertop filters, whole-house filters, and more. You get the message – charcoal really “takes out the garbage”.
Another type of water filtration system available today is reverse osmosis. That’s the technical name for the process of water being pushed through an ultra-fine semi-permeable membrane, where it separates the tap liquid into the pure permeate which is diverted to a storage tank for later use; the brine concentrate is diverted down the drain. The water is stored in a pressure tank and is treated to a final activated-charcoal polishing filtration stage to remove all remaining odors and tastes before dispensing the purified water into your glass. The disadvantage of reverse osmosis systems is that they waste a lot of water – for every gallon of purified water produced, two gallons are wasted.
Other types of water filters are ion exchange and distillation. Ion exchange is designed to remove dissolved salts in the water, such as calcium. This system actually softens the water or exchanges natural-forming mineral ions in the water with its own ions, thereby neutralizing their harmful effect of creating scale build-up. The ion exchange system was originally used in boilers and other industrial situations before becoming popular in home purifying units, which combine the system with carbon.
Distillation is the simple process of boiling water to create steam. The steam cools and condenses to form pure mineral-free water droplets which are deposited in a container. When combined with carbon, the result is 99.9% pure contaminate-free water. These systems are extremely efficient and reliable, and are regarded today as one of the most effective ways to remove contaminates from any water, from any source.
One other water filter worth mentioning is the portable variety. If you do a lot of camping or hiking, these are the wise choice for you.
A summary of filtration systems and what they do and don’t do:
Activated Carbon Filters – Do: absorb organic contaminants that cause bad taste and odor; some models remove chlorination byproducts; some models remove cleaning solvents and pesticides. Don’t: remove metals such as lead and copper; remove nitrate, bacteria or dissolved minerals.
Ion Exchange Units – Do: remove minerals, particularly calcium and magnesium that make water “hard”; remove fluorides; some models remove radium and barium. Don’t: soften water if it has oxidized iron or iron bacteria, which clogs the system when the ion-exchange resin becomes coated.
Reverse Osmosis Units – Do: remove nitrates, sodium, other dissolved inorganic and organic compounds; remove foul tastes, smells or colors; possibly reduce the level of some pesticides, dioxins and chloroform and petrochemicals. Don’t: remove all inorganic and organic contaminants.
Distillation Units – Do: remove nitrates, bacteria, sodium, hardness, dissolved solids, most organic compounds, heavy metals, and radionuclides; kill bacteria. Don’t: remove some volatile organ contaminants, certain pesticides and volatile solvents; stop bacteria from recolonizing on the cooling coils during inactive periods.

Water purification
Water purification may remove: particulate sand; suspended particles of organic materal; Parasites, Giardia; Cryptosporidium; bacteria; algae; virus; fungi; etc. Minerals calcium, silica, magnesium, etc., and Toxic metals lead; copper; chromium; etc. Some purification may be elective in the purification process, including smell (hydrogen sulphide remediation), taste (mineral extraction), and appearance (iron incapsulation).
Governments usually dictate the standards for drinking water quality. These standards will require minimum / maximum set points of contaminants and the inclusion of control elements that produce potable drinking water. Quality standards in many countries require specific amounts of disinfectant (such as chlorine) in the water after it leaves the WTP (Water Treatment Plant), to reduce the risk of re-contamination while the water is in the distribution system.
Ground water (usually supplied as well water) is typically a more economical choice than surface water (from rivers, lakes and streams) as a source for drinking, as it is inherently pre-filtered by the aquifer from which it is extracted. Over large areas of the world, aquifers are recharged as part of the hydrologic cycle. In more arid regions, water from an aquifer will have a limited output and can take thousands of years to recharge. Surface water is locally more abundant where subsurface formations do not function as aquifers; however, ground water is far more abundant than the more-visible surface water. Surface water is a typical raw water source used to make drinking water where it is abundant and where ground water is unavailable or of poor quality. However, it is much more exposed to human activity and its byproducts. As a water source it is carefully monitored for the presence of a variety of contaminants by the WTP operators.
It is not possible to tell whether water is safe to drink just by looking at it. Simple procedures such as boiling or the use of a household charcoal filter are not sufficient for treating all the possible contaminants that may be present in water from an unknown source. Even natural spring water - considered safe for all practical purposes in the 1800s - must now be tested before determining what kind of treatment, if any, is needed. Lab analysis, while expensive, is the only way to obtain the information necessary for deciding on method of purification.

Chlorine gas makes a "pretty good tasting water"
Chlorine gas has been used successfully as the primary source of disinfectant in small water treatment plants because it's less costly than other forms of disinfection. Chlorine gas is also simple to operate and it's more stable. Chlorine gas can be generated onsite, or it can be shipped to the treatment plant. According to one estimate, more than 90% of drinking water treatment plants in the United States are using chlorine gas as a primary form of disinfection.
It is therefore no wonder that in 2007 the Village of Montpelier in Ohio won the gold medal for the world's Best Municipal Drinking Water. According to www.pollutionequipment.com, the award was given by the annual international water Tasting Event in Berkeley Springs, W.V. According to the report the village won in 2003 and 2006.
Mr. Bill Blakely, the water treatment plant's superintendent, declared the water as "pretty good tasting water." This is as result of the changes that were made to the water treatment plant that was built in 1939. Pollution Equipment concluded that "it is evident that gas chlorine is the Village of Montpelier's choice disinfection product" that resulted in their "good tasting water".
Why should you test your water?
A test of your drinking water could do the following for you:
Gives you the understanding of its quality.
Confirms whether or not your drinking water is free of pathogenic, bacteria, lead, arsenic, iron, and other harmful chemicals.
Gives your water a clean bill of health or a direction to do something.
Saves you money because it will help you spend your money on the right water filter or softener. Perhaps you don't need one; you will not be buying one because your neighbor has one.
The environment where your water supply is located can influence the need to test water. Public water suppliers in the United States are required to send an annual Consumer Confidence Report. This report will show information on the test results the water supplier has performed, the concentration level of each chemical detected, health effects of these contaminants, and the sources of water. Majority of water suppliers will not deceive their customers, but recent news events about water treatment plant operators who manipulated test results offer no confidence in some consumers. In this case, and for well water owners, a test will determine whether or not harmful contaminants are present in your drinking water.
The age of a house plumbing fixtures can also determine the need to test water for contaminants. Lead in old house plumbing can leach into the drinking water. According to the medical experts, a brief or prolonged body exposure to lead can cause serous health issues. Test result will help determine the treatment options.
For well water owners, proximity to agricultural environments can influence the need to test what's in the drinking water. Runoffs from animal feeding operations can leak into the groundwater thus contaminating well water supply. Some of the contaminants that can get into well water are heavy metals, nitrates, pesticides, and sulfates. Untreated wastewater that discharges to water supply source and failed septic systems can result in well water contamination. Treatment options for well water contaminations could be the use of a filter system. Testing will reveal what's in the water and what type of water treatment is needed.
Some water analyses can be done in your home by eyeballing such as odor, taste, color, and turbidity. Collecting water for testing for some chemicals requires higher level sampling and testing protocols while others can only analyzed by a state certified laboratory. In some cases, water testing must be conducted immediately while others will need special preservatives before delivering it to the laboratory. In the previous case, the laboratory may send its own technicians to collect the samples. The cost of testing will vary from one laboratory to another. Some laboratory may provide you with sample bottles and directions on how to collect water.
You may contact your state's drinking water authority for guidance on how and where to test your water. However, for information the conditions of your drinking water you may contact your county or town drinking water authority.
Treatment options to remove these contaminants could be a water filter or a water softener. Water filter or softener comparisons of different brands and manufacturers will show the type of treatments each system can remove.Welcome to Waterhoh Water Filtration.Inc,Our products include:drinking water filters, reverse osmosis system, undersink and countertop water Filters, shower water Filters, whole house filters systems, replacement filters cartridges. thank you for looking at our Website......

Federer wins 4th straight U.S. Open for 12th major title
Able to come through when it counts the most, Federer just keeps adding to his trophy collection.
In the U.S. Open final Sunday, Federer sure offered his opponent plenty of chances to pull off an upset. He knows how to win these things, though, while Novak Djokovic is learning, and that made all the difference in Federer's 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2), 6-4 victory for a fourth consecutive U.S. Open championship and 12th Grand Slam title.
Federer is the first man since Bill Tilden in the 1920s to win the American Grand Slam four years running. He's won the last five Wimbledon titles, too, along with three overall at the Australian Open. So on Sunday, still only 26 years old, Federer moved ahead of a couple of guys named Bjorn Borg and Rod Laver on the career Slam list and tied Roy Emerson for second place, two away from Sampras' 14.
"I think about it a lot now," Federer said of Sampras' mark. "To come so close at my age is fantastic, and I hope to break it."
How many Slams can he win?
"I don't know," Federer said. "I hope more than Pete."
This one was a close call. The 20-year-old Djokovic was in his first Slam final, yet he led 6-5 in each of the opening two sets.
In the first, he held five set points. In the second, he held two.
Federer erased all of those, showing the craft and cool that have allowed him to hold the No. 1 ranking for the past 188 weeks, the longest run ever.
"My next book is going to be called, 'Seven Set Points,"' Djokovic said, flashing the sense of humor he displayed while doing on-court impersonations of other players after his quarterfinal victory.
On a more serious note, the No. 3-seeded Djokovic said of Federer: "Once again, he showed he's the best."
In Djokovic, Federer was facing the only man to beat him over the past three months, but that was in early August at Montreal, not early September at New York, and in a Grand Slam tuneup, not the real deal.

So, not just talented with a racket but prescient, too, Federer pretty much predicted what would transpire. Shortly before walking out for Sunday's match, he said knowingly, "It'll be interesting to see how he handles the final."
Sure was.
Afterward, Federer spoke about having enjoyed getting another shot at Djokovic.
"New guys challenging me -- this is my biggest motivation out there," Federer said. "Seeing them challenging me, and then beating them in the finals."
In the end, about the only category Djokovic won on this day was "Most Intriguing Guests," with 2006 Open champion Maria Sharapova -- "just a friendship," he said -- and actor Robert De Niro sharing a box with his parents in the stands.
Federer was dressed for an evening on the town -- all in black, from headwrap and wristband to socks and shoes, from shirt to shorts with tuxedo-like satin stripes down the sides -- and he finished things under the lights by breaking Djokovic in the last game with the help of a no-look, over-the-shoulder volley winner.
It's the type of shot that has prompted plenty of people to call Federer the greatest to ever swing a racket.
Which is why, at the start, it was surprising to see Federer struggle as much as he did. When he double-faulted, then sprayed two forehands long, Djokovic broke to go up 6-5, with a chance to serve for the set.
And then Djokovic raced to a 40-love edge.
Three set points.
Three chances to take a one-set lead against Federer in the U.S. Open final.
And just like that, they vanished: Federer hit a cross-court forehand winner that caught a line, and Djokovic missed two backhands.
AP - Sep 9, 7:57 pm EDT
More Photos
Then came two more set points that Federer erased. Then, in the tiebreaker, Djokovic made three backhand errors and two double-faults, including on the last point.
"He knows what it feels like to be in that kind of situation. He knows how to cope with the pressure," Djokovic said. "For me, this is something new."
It showed again later.
When Federer served while trailing 6-5 in the second set, Djokovic let two more set points go by the wayside. Again they went to a tiebreaker, and again Federer was better. When he ended it with a backhand passing winner down the line -- placing the ball through the one, tiny opening there was -- Federer skipped toward the sideline, screamed and punched the air.
Djokovic had one last opportunity to climb back into the match, getting to love-40 when Federer served at 2-2 in the third set. But Federer took five points in a row, making Djokovic 2-for-9 on break chances.
Federer takes home a Grand Slam-record $2.4 million in prize money: $1.4 million for winning the tournament, plus a $1 million bonus because he finished atop the U.S. Open Series standings based on performances at hard-court tuneup events.
From 1970 to 2005, no man -- not a single one! -- reached all four Grand Slam finals in a calendar year. Now Federer has turned that trick two years in a row. Actually, his streak stretches back to 10 consecutive Grand Slam finals, and he's won eight. And if it weren't for a certain indefatigable Mallorcan who goes by the name Rafael Nadal -- and beat him in the last two French Open finals -- Federer might have won all 10.
About an hour after Sunday's match, Djokovic walked outside the stadium to join about a dozen friends and relatives. He posed for photos, then Dad helped him pop a bottle of champagne. Clearly, Djokovic was happy to be here.
Federer wanted the victory.
He was asked whether Djokovic is ready to overtake the second-ranked Nadal.
"No. 2, No. 3 -- it doesn't matter much," Federer said. "It's No. 1 that matters."

water softener

A water softener is an appliance designed to remove minerals from water by means of an ion-exchange process. As water flows through a bed of sodium-impregnated resin beads, mineral ions are drawn from the water to the beads. The sodium ions are added to the water. Water SoftenerThe water softener unit recharges the beads with brine or a potassium chloride solution. Some water softeners have separate tanks for the sodium resin and the brine while others have the resin tank inside the brine tank.
Full-home water softeners typically are installed right where the main water line enters the house. For economy, some systems bypass faucets and fixtures that don't need soft water, such as toilets and exterior water systems. Depending on what system you have and who owns it (you or a leasing company), your water softening system may be maintained by a service company. All you need to do to get soft water is turn on the tap—and pay the bill.
Clean the injector:
1. Turn the water softener control to the bypass mode (so the main water line does not run through the softener). On some units, you also may need to disconnect the unit from the electrical source.
2. Unscrew the softener injector cap and remove the screen and injector nozzle. You may need the owner's manual to determine where these components are located on your model.
3. Remove and clean the screen with warm soapy water, then rinse in clear water. If it is damaged, replace the screen.
4. Clean the nozzle with canned air, a small wire, or a paper clip
5. Reassemble and test the unit.
Flush the brine line:
1. Turn the water softener control to the bypass mode. On some units, you also may need to disconnect the unit from the electrical source.
2. Loosen the brine line fittings at the injector housing and salt tank with a wrench, then remove the brine line.
3. To clear a clog, use a large syringe or a turkey baster to inject warm water into the line.

Google
Google
