Water filters can improve the taste of your tap water, but they do need to be changed every six months to work properly. These instructions will work to replace any Franke Triflow cartridge and may work for some other brands as well.
1. Buy the replacement cartridge from the manufacturer or any of the retailers you can find on the internet. Use the serial number on your current cartridge to order the correct part.
2. Look under the sink and locate the white cylinder shaped casing which contains the water filter cartridge. Shut off the water valve which leads to this filter.
3. Remove the remaining water in the filter hoses by turning your filtered water on as you normally do above the sink. If you completed step 2 correctly , the water should stop flowing within a few seconds.
4. Place a bowl or bucket under the water filter to catch the water which will spill out when you remove the cartridge casing.
5. Unscrew the white plastic cartridge casing located under the sink.

Pour the dirty water out of the plastic casing (See image 1) and wash the casing in warm soapy water. Remove any mold or dirt buildup which might have developed.

Remove the new cartridge from the box it was shipped (See image 2) in and gently wet the two rubber "O" rings on its top.
7. Screw the new cartridge and the plastic casing into the receptor under the sink.
8. Turn on the filtered water tap and let it run for at least 2 minutes to remove any impurities. Check under the sink for any leaks that might have developed.

The sales for bottled water are estimated to be between $50 and $100 billion (US) annually and increasing approximately 7 to 10 percent annually. In 2004, total sales were approximately 154 billion liters (41 billion gallons).[1]

Plane bearing
A plane bearing/bushing is very similar in design to a rolling-element bearing/bushing, but it contains no balls. Plane bearings are further broken down into several families: Bronze bushings, Metal/Polymer Bushings and All-Polymer bushings. All metal (usually bronze) bushings were the start of of this family of bearings and these types of bearings have been used since the middle ages. Babbitt bearings also fall into this product group. These types of bearings are still commonly used today. The second category is the metal + polymer bearing. These types of bearings have been used since the early 1980's when Pacific Bearing introduced its Simplicity Self-Lubricating Linear Bearing. This type of bearing uses an Aluminum, Steel or Stainless steel outer shell and a piece of polymer or flouro-polymer as a liner. This type of liner is usually made of Teflon (to reduce friction) plus fillers (to increase life). The hard outer shell in combination with the enhanced polymer liner give this type of bearing a superior performance advantage over the other two types of bearings/bushings in this category. The third type of bushing/bearing is the all-polymer bushing. This bearing is used primarily in high-volume applications where cost is critical and the cost per bushing must be driven down to only a few pennies per part. Automated injection-molding machines allow this type of production at such a reduced cost.
